The Fall

It all started when USC and UCLA left the Pac-12 for the Big Ten

Oregon, Washington, and Colorado were the next teams to announce they were going to leave the Pac-12 leaving Utah with a hard decision to make.

Media

Media rights were a big reason with the Pac-12 media rights expiring in 2024.

SDSU and SMU

San Diego State and SMU never got the chance to join the Pac-12, two schools that could have saved it.

$31 million dollars

The Big-12 offered any Pac-12 school that joined $31 million dollars.

A Premier Institution

“The Conference is gaining three premier institutions both academically and athletically, and the entire Big 12 looks forward to working alongside their presidents, athletic directors, student-athletes and administrators,” – Commissioner Brett Yormark

Old Rivals

The Utes will be playing in the same conference as their longtime rival BYU. This comes after not being in the same conference in 13 years.

A Farewell to the Pac-12

“It’s easy to see why Utah fans will mourn the demise of the Pac-12 Conference.” -Joe Coles Desert News

“When official word came down that the Utes would join the conference in June 2010, it set off celebrations throughout the fan base. Utah fans likened it to the joy of the holiday season, dubbing it “Pac-mas.”

After many heartbreaking years, patiently waiting, Cam Rising and the Utes Became the Pac-12 Champions two seasons in a row.
